  On being born in and celebrating Birthdays

  so i'm in my mid 30s and about to have a birthday next month.

  was putting together a very modest wish list and just broke down crying.

  some friends had a birthday dinner for me. I still feel uncomfortable about this. I usually don't even mention my birthday. I also don't know how to be if they want me to open presents in front of them. I doin't know how to act. Oh well.

  7.24" x 9.47" x 16 pages two sides.

  16 x 9.47" x 41,042,000. one magazine end to end - 151.52".

  my wife saw shunning first hand

  well the other day we dropped daughter back to her mother, after what was a fabulous whole week with me.. sitting on the verandah of the house is grandpa jw, about 80 and recently widowed.

  now, he is my ex father in law and we got on very good back in the day, even helped build his house.. anyway, i drop daughter off and i am looking at the man, who in the whole 10 mins that he sat there, gave one cursory glance our way as i stood on the footpath opposite the house talking to my kids.. this is a guy who will talk the leg off a chair, a guy who will start a conversation with a total stranger in the street, the man is a talker.. i mention to wife as we departed..."poor bastard, not even 'allowed' to say hello the father of his grandkids''.

  if i was not d/f i know he would have come over, no doubt whatsoever.

  That one good friend

  recently i have an obsession with past times, i guess it's called middle aged or old aged, anyway.. i'm sure anybody out there remembers people from their childhood or growing up and thinks not a lot about it.. i remember some good jw buddies and here's an ode to them.. i met one outside a local cafe, and we stopped and looked at each other for 45 seconds, or what seemed like forever.

  because we lived in each others pockets and we got on so well.

  we would sit at our ibm 286 pcs and play wing commander to the late hour, and there was no internet.

  I always get the remembering bug around the holidays. It usually makes me very sad. It's a bummer to be judged harshly by people that you really loved. I wouldn't do that to a dog. I'm feeling a little down. I was in a cross walk and got hit by a van. 9 days in a hospital several weeks b4 I could fly home (broken elbow, broken ribs, collapsed lung, ruptured spleen) now waiting for arm to heel to go back to work. big snow storm. electricity out 4 3 days. House is a mess. Hate that the borg stole most of my good years. OK pity party over. I'll clean the house now.

  I don't believe the Bible is Inspired of god - Why do you / don't you?

  many of you may know that i was brought up a witness and stayed in until the age of 42, even reaching the dizzy heights of being a congregation elder.

  i was unusual in that, even as a witness i studied to degree level, on a part time basis, sponsored by my employer.

  my first was in chemistry and my masters is in business administration.

  I just got a copy of the Jefferson Bible. Thomas Jefferson cut out all the things ascribed to Jesus and put them together. What Jesus taught was a far cry from the first great hijacker the Apostle Paul. But then again, no proof that Jesus really said this. I think he did live as Josephus refers to him but why the Romans did not record his trial and execution I have no idea.

  no, it's all about loyalty to the organization.

  it doesn't matter that their teachings are an incoherent, incomprehensible, contradictory pile of crap.

  They worship this trinity: Jehovah, Jesus, and most importantly (and trumps the former mentioned 2).....drum roll....THE GOVERNING BODY!!!!!

  i am finding it hard to pray with my children

  i have been fading for 6 months but my wife is still in and always asks me to pray at dinner and when i put the little ones to bed but i am finding prayer to be more of a pretense than heartfelt.

  i have to pray for the sun or the earth but why thank him for the food, hell thank me for going to work everyday .who put us in the house we live in, god?

  its really hard for me to pray for anything anymore as i have an anger toward him and dont want anything to do with a future (mythical)paradise under his control, so why ask for it?.

  Did your spirituality improve after confessing to wrongdoing?

  i was reading this thread, http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/members/private/220730/1/had-my-jc-today-oh-sugar, and morbidzbaby mentioned their husband confessed to uncleaness because he did not feel he was getting blessed by jehovah.

  however, blessings did not increase after the confession.. it made me wonder about the whole idea of confessing so that you do not loose jehovah's blessing.

  when i was in bethel i confessed about a couple of menial things.

  hen I was 19, almost 20 I was working and living on my own. I had a date with a guy I was crazy about one night but I went over to pay my rent to the apt mgr across the way. He offered to make me a martini and after 2 closed the drapes so I couldn't see my date come. I was VERY naive then. It ended up a rape. I confessed to the overseer. It turned into a horrendous situation. He accused me of being immoral and commettee meetings ensued. At one point he said, " I knew your mother should not have let you go to Mexico when you were younger". They decided to put me on "Probation" (what they used to do back in the day) which was announced from the podium accompanied by "watch your association with her". THEN he had a secret meeting with my mom giving her THEIR opinion of me. Since I didn't know about this meeting I didn't know why my mom took such a turn in feelings for me. We somewhat straightened it out 55 years later. I was deeply shamed but stayed because I was convinced I deserved it. So no, I did not feel better.
